The journey of Aphrodite Hills Resort as we move away from single-use plastic products

Plastic pollution has rapidly emerged as one of the most critical and urgent environmental challenges confronting humanity today. Concern about the impact of single-use plastic on the environment is a global issue that is pushing both governments, private businesses and individuals to act.

Aphrodite Hills Resort has embarked on an ambitious journey to remove single-use plastic items from our daily operations on the golf course and associated facilities. Meanwhile, Atlantica Hotels and Resorts have already committed to the project of removing single-use plastic products from their hotel operations across their portfolio, including Aphrodite Hills.

Our starting point is implementing the use of reusable water containers and installation of water dispensers at key points around the facilities and golf course, thus slowly removing the single-use plastic water bottles.

After a thorough analysis of the numbers of single-use plastic bottles that were used in 2022, and when we reached the concerning number of more than 80,000 bottles, we immediately decided to identify solutions and look for the best ways to implement new environmentally friendly policies that will benefit both the Company, Resort and our guests.

Highlighting the importance of taking this form of action, all of the Golf Team has now been provided by the Company with personalised reusable thermal water bottles and all staff will completely stop using plastic single-use water bottles.

We wish to lead by example and raise awareness to all of our visitors and Golf Course Members, the impact plastic pollution is having on the environment and also the importance of shifting the consumer attitude towards a more sustainable and healthy way of living.

On this note Aphrodite Hills Resort, has now the option for all guests to purchase reusable water bottles from the Golf Pro Shop at extremely affordable prices. Removing any profit from the sales of the water bottles will make these accessible to all guests that visit the golf course and will also encourage consumers to go for this option rather than choose a single-use bottle.

One step at a time, Aphrodite Hills aims to contribute to a world without plastic and enable people to make more sustainable choices.
